D- D is
the title character in both Vampire Hunter Movies. As the title character he
is left with certain responsibilities….like being a kick ass character-
which he does well I might add. D is
a Dumpeal, the halfling,
son of the Vampire King, Dracula. A solitary, angsty,
and rather quiet character, D hunts vampires and demons for money (for
reasons none of us are quite sure of, he doesn’t seem to need that
much, though he asks for large amounts of it per hire.) Because
he is only half vampire he retains certain powers without certain weaknesses associated
with the species. The stereotypical bloodlust is virtually non-existent thus
far in the movie series. He does have a slight weakness when it comes to
sunlight. If he remains out in the hot sun for a long period of time it
begins to harm him, forcing him to dig a hole in the ground and remain there
until he regains his strength. There are a few instances when he vampire
sides seems to take over, usually leading to great bursts of strength, vigor
and speed. D
himself, because of his vampire side, has acquired certain ablities, including increased speed and senses. D’s
signature weapons include a sword, of which I don’t know the origins
of, and a mysterious, parasitic demon residing in his hand. (See Hand on
sidebar) His
solitary nature has a lot to do with the fact that he believes dumpeals (and perhaps vampires) are unable to have real
lives. This is backed up by the fact that a great many of the townspeople and
secondary characters seem to hate him just for the fact that he is part
vampire. I sincerely doubt that D is as emotionless as he puts on. He hasn’t
really shown any great bursts of compassion or happiness (or anything else
other than some anger…) but that doesn’t mean he is incapable. I’d
like to see the series reflect on this a bit perhaps if they decide to make
another movie. In
my personal opinion D is probably one of the most kick ass characters in
anime. Purely opinion of course. =^_^= |
