Leila- Leila
is the only female member of the Markus Brothers, even though she isn’t
related to the other members. Her motives for aiding them start when she was
a child, when her mother was stolen by vampires. Her father was killed trying
to rescue her mother. When her mother returned she’d been changed, the
villagers proceeded to stone her to death while the young Leila watched. Personality-wise,
Leila is a bad-ass gun slinger. The job comes first, and she won’t give
up until all vampires are destroyed, or she’s six feet under.
She’s a very closed person, the only characters
she seem to confide in are Grove Markus and, eventually, D. Her
relationship with the other characters is uncertain. She seems to have some
kind of a romantic relationship with Grove Markus, or that Grove may just be
in love with her. As far as the other Markus brothers go she seems to treat
them simply as comrades. When
it comes to D, Leila is most definitely not a love interest. She seems to be
there to remind D of the life he can’t have, or the choices he
can’t make because of his bloodline. He attempts to convince to stop
her hunt and try to make a life for herself, something which he himself feels
he could never do. Their relationship varies during the movie. At one point
she seems to hate his very existence, sicking a
town full of vampire/ Dunpeal haters on our D. Soon
after they’re making a pact; if one dies the other has the bring
flowers to their grave, which D, rather sweetly, agrees to. One
really nice thing about Leila is that she carries this wicked looking hi-tech
gun. |
